Yes its a hike, and a tough one if you are not ready for it. The hill is steep and consistent. There are a few switchbacks as you get closer to the top, but I would say that its totally worth it. On the way down look for a shortcut track that makes the decent a lot faster. You can take this on the way up if you are fit and ready for it.
